About Us
Who We Are
DiveHow is an independent guide to snorkeling and scuba equipment, written for people who want to understand their gear as well as buy it, and who would rather fix a small problem early than replace a whole kit later. Our author, Gavin Whitlow, spent fourteen years around dive equipment, first as a shop technician and later as a guide, and that background shapes how we write. We explain why gear fails, what a sensible fix looks like and which products are worth considering when a repair is no longer enough. We write for newcomers, returning divers and families heading out on a first reef trip, a quarry course or a holiday of snorkeling in warm shallow water.
Our Mission
Our mission is to make dive and snorkel gear easier to understand. Too many guides list features without saying how a mask feels after an hour in the water, how a strap behaves when it is wet or what to do when a snorkel keeps leaking. We aim to answer those practical questions in plain language, with honest trade-offs and clear steps. When a topic needs hands-on training, we say so and point readers to certified instructors.
Our Vision
We want every reader to leave with more confidence than they arrived with. A diver who knows how to check fit, rinse equipment, spot early signs of wear and ask good questions at a service counter is safer, happier and spends less on avoidable replacements. We hope DiveHow becomes the place people open before a trip, during a troubleshooting moment and again when it is time to upgrade.

Our Content Standards
We write original content and update it when products or advice change. We explain how we judge gear, including fit, comfort, durability, serviceability and how clearly the manufacturer describes care and limits. We do not promise results, and we avoid claims we cannot support. Anything involving life support equipment is general information only and never replaces training from a certified instructor or work by a qualified technician. Some links on the site are affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. That income never decides which products we recommend, and we correct mistakes as soon as we find them.
Rinse your gear the same day and it will repay you for years.
